This year began with he same impetus as last year ended; with AI music videos making all the headlines. Here at TikiKiti we could see the code on the monitor screen — we needed to be involved.
This Artist Spotlight is going to be different. Here we highlight several artists who have been involved with developing music videos using some of the new AI software. Anssi Puisi, Matt Balshaw. and Patrick Hanser share how artistic vision is even more important now that creating an AI music video is as simple as pushing a button. The reality is very different.
All of Miguel De Brito’s short films are exceptionally produced — and award-winning. Miguel, who hails from Brittany in northwest France, won the Barclay Award for his video to “The Friend” by Meryem Aboulouafa. His style concentrates on the narrative and his brilliant cinematography helps tell a very precise story. No matter how abstract his films, he draws in his audience and they become part of the story.

Christian Szczerba first came to our attention with his music video to “Nightcall,” Essenger’s remix of the Kavinsky song. From beginning to end, this video conveys a sense of mystery. Who are the lead characters? Why does one of them resemble Ryan Gosling from a couple of his movies? As the story continues, we wonder about the relationship between the two lead characters.
Typically distracted by the shinier things, we’ve lost another battle with the calendar, and are forced to condense missing months into manageable chunks until we catch up to the present and avoid all those late fees.
